Dear parents, carers and friends of Village Primary School
School governors and staff are delighted to announce that with effect from 1.5.18, Village Primary School has converted to an academy and is now part of Harmony Multi Academy Trust. We will now be called Village Primary Academy.
If you would like to learn more about the trust and trustees and to access its full range of policies, please visit the website address detailed below:
The trust currently manages one other academy in Derby which is Cavendish Close Junior Academy. A further 5 local schools, including our federation partner Alvaston Junior School, will be joining the trust over the next few months. Once all the schools in Derby have joined the trust you will see some further changes to our website, but for the moment policies that relate to Village Primary only, such as the Harmony Trust Safeguarding Policy, have been added to the list of governors’ policies on this site.
Whilst the day to day running of the school may seem unchanged, there will be some new and exciting initiatives coming soon as a result of our joining the trust. We will keep you informed about all of these over the coming days, weeks and months. If you have any immediate questions, please contact Debbie Beeston or myself.
Thank you all for your continuing support.
Welcome to Alvaston Junior and Village Primary Federation of Schools
Hello and welcome to the website for the Alvaston Junior and Village Primary Federation of Schools.
The two schools federated in September 2013 and now have one governing body and a number of staff who work at both schools including the Federation Headteacher – Jane Green.
We were delighted in November 2016 we became designated National Support Schools with a National Leader of Education as Executive Head.
Ethos and Values
Our schools believe that every child has a right to achieve their potential in every aspect of their life and that school’s role is to support them in this by providing care, encouragement, support and challenge. We foster a TEAM ethos of Tolerance, Equality, Achievement and Motivation and have the following aims for all pupils:-
- To enjoy coming to school everyday and to achieve all their learning targets
- To have a healthy lifestyle now and in the future
- To be safe and well cared for at home and at school
- To be good citizens and friends and to care for our environment
- To keep on learning in the future and to have a fulfilling and responsible lifestyle.
Both schools have a committed pastoral team. Their role is to support pupils, parents and staff to keep all of our children safe and healthy – physically, socially and emotionally.
Achievement and Behaviour
Details of our school performance can be seen at: www.education.gov.uk/schools/performance
We are proud of our pupils’ behaviour, which is frequently commended by visitors to the school and members of the public on school visits.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our AJS/VPS Federation. Should you require a paper copy of any of the documents on our school website, please do not hesitate to contact the school office and this can be provided free of charge. A number of our safeguarding policies are pre-copied and are in the school reception areas, so please help yourself.
