Alvaston Junior School

Alvaston Junior School caters for 7 to 11 year olds and shares a large green site with Alvaston Infant School. Our school is housed in a large single storey building with 14 classes and an enhanced resource unit for children with moderate learning difficulties. We are also fortunate enough to have 2 halls, one used for lunches and sport, the other for assemblies, breakfast club, AJ’S after school club and other after school clubs and cross-curricular learning. The building and grounds are also used by a number of community groups for a range of activities.

We have spacious grounds and playing fields with a range of outdoor equipment including an outdoor table tennis table, different areas for children to play and a garden area and allotment where the Gardening Club work.

Healthy Schools

Alvaston Junior School is a Health Promoting School and have recently been re-awarded the Healthy Schools Award for the second time. We have our own kitchen where school meals are freshly served each day, with a choice of menus and a daily salad bar. Pupils are allowed to bring fruit for snack at break-time (with something of their own choosing on Fridays), and encouraged to bring their water bottles daily.
